Dr. Gwynn speaks at COP30 in Amazonia, Brazil

At a session entitled “Integrating Mitigation and Adaptation: Building Coherent Climate Action for Resilient Economies” at the Water for Climate Pavillion at COP30 in Brazil, Dr Maria A. Gwynn, CERC Fellow, gave her talk remotely. She spoke about the importance of using a holistic approach when implementing actions, which encompasses reducing emissions, but also to adapt and become resilient to effects of climate change, to continue protecting, preserving and restoring the ecosystem, and to manage water resources  sustainably. She argued that that only with such a holistic approach is it possible to meet the economic demands of increasing populations while insisting that cooperation among all sectors is key, so that all levels of governance can effectively tackle the challenges of the impacts of climate change.
